Well here we are in 2017. How did 2016 fly by so quickly? It's been quite a while since I wrote last, so I wanted to start the New Year off with a message in which I believe whole-heartedly: No matter what, STAY YOU. The beginning of a new year (for many) starts off bright and hopeful with promises of great change, renewal, and fresh starts. Growth and self improvement goals in specific and achievable ways -- are always important. It is equally important, however, to stay true to you.

Friends from all over are having babies right now. While there is nothing that can replicate that beautiful newborn baby scent, I wanted to dedicate a post on my favorite scents for the nursery. As a mother, you can use these scents for the nursery to anchor this beautiful and amazing time in your life in your memory. And even better, these scents come beautifully packaged so you can use them as beautiful decorative accents for your baby's nursery.

Royal Grey is so thrilled to be featured on 100 Layer Cakelet today as we scent styled Jennifer Leyva of Heart + Camera's Baby Shower. To scent style this specific event, we incorporated diptyque's beautiful scented candle and room spray in figuier. The scent profile of fig and woods, as well as the look of diptyque, with its elegant clean lines, accented the theme, decor, and the floral design perfectly.

I recently headed back to LA to scent style a baby shower in honor of Jennifer of Heart + Camera. Scenting events is something that has become another natural path for me and another set of services that Royal Grey provides. After working with several business establishments and spaces including hotels and retail boutiques to scent their spaces, I thought it only natural to include scenting events as part of Royal Grey's services.

With a recent surge in my travels both domestically and internationally, I've been very aware (even more than usual) about the scents around me - both good and bad - that I encounter en route to my destinations. It's been planes, trains, and automobiles (and boats) for me to/in 8 different cities the past 2 months. And I must say, it's been really interesting to see if/how spaces have been scented... but it's been even more interesting to realize the opportunities that haven't been touched.

You hear it all the time; There's nothing more important than customer service. And it's so true. I don't know if it's because I've spent many years in the luxury service industries or if it's because I've traveled all over the world in many types of situations, but I pay great attention to customer service - both from the provider and receiver's perspectives.

Fragrance is a great tool with which to extend one's brand. Not only does fragrance enhance the environment and ambiance of a place of business (i.e. a hotel or retail location), but it also creates an instant trigger that a customer or guest can use to link a specific scent with certain (and hopefully pleasant) memories or experiences. All of these reasons together support the concept of 'Scent Branding.'

Last night, I was watching a Fiat commercial and had made a passing comment about how I liked Fiat's new model - the 500x. I like how it is completely on brand with the look and feel of Fiat, but it is a natural transition into the larger, more SUV - type automobile. My comment then sparked a conversation/discussion/debate about how brands have grown and why it's been successful (or not) for them.

In the business world today, I have experienced, read about, and heard about way too many companies that are not being run the right way. So you might be saying that there is no one 'right way' to run a company -- and this is true. However, running a company the smart way will always be the right way. The smart way will never fail you. And too many companies are not being smart. Why? There are a few reasons for this...
